Mx Desk Mount LCD Arm Review

I'm already a huge fan of Ergotron products going back to when I used to design and install computer rooms and data centers. So, when the time came for me to buy something for my home office, I did shop a bit but always came back to Ergotron. Last year I purchased the LX Dual Desk Mount Arm to support a 22" Samsung monitor and my Apple MacBook Pro 15". This setup has been awesome, providing me with a dual-monitor feature that is really a time saver.
I want to provide some key information to anyone considering this device that I think will help you decide.
1) I purchased this arm concerned it may not support the weight of the Apple iMac 27" computer. The computer with the base weighs in at 30.5 lbs and without the base is ~27.5 lbs. so based on the math, I'm well within the weight range of the MX Arm spec. That being said, since I already knew how to adjust my LX Dual Arm setup, I found the MX to be identical in adjustment and fitment capability.
2) Ergotron sent a nice package of bolts, screws, desk-mount optional hardware and even a set of tools to make the adjustments. Setting it up was simple and getting attached was fairly straight forward. They provide a wing-nut to tighten the base to the desk but I recommend if you have a heavy monitor or computer like I do, go to a nearby hardware store and buy a nylon-insert nut (I forgot the specific size, just take the bolt with you) and use that to fasten it to the desk. Be sure not to over tighten it or you could potentially damage your furniture and the swing arm.
3) If your computer or monitor leans toward the high end of the scale with respect to the specification of this swing arm, be sure to pre-tighten the adjustment screws before you put weight on it. You'll find it much easier to do and, easier to adjust afterward. I should have I know but I didn't keep track of how many revolutions I made on the neck and head adjustments but suffice it to say it was more than 20 full revolutions. You'll get a sense for how the tension is but just be careful not to over tighten.
4) Make sure you've assembled everything according to the spec but also make sure you've installed your mounting bracket correctly so that you can just simply lay the monitor or the computer on the MX Arm and hand tighten the large plastic-headed screws to the 100x100 mounting plate. This will make life very easy.
Bottom line, I used the VESA Mount Adapter Kit for 24-inch/27-inch iMac and 24-inch LED Cinema Display - Apple Part Number: MC434ZM/A -- this worked perfectly and was very well made.
This was a very straight forward and very effective solution for what I was trying to achieve. I'm now able to swing my Apple 27" iMac 180 degrees around on my desk, pivot it upward about 70 degrees and lower it if needed. It works very well, its very well made and I highly recommend this to anyone considering this sort of mount for your large iMac or Cinema displays!!!

Peerless SA740P Articulating LCD Wall Mount for 22-40" LCD Screens (Black) Review

Peerless SA740P Articulating LCD Wall Mount for 22-40 LCD Screens (Black)
Average Reviews:

I purchased a 32" flat panel LCD HDTV for our bedroom and wanted to wall mount it to get it off the floor and take advantage of it's thin profile. The problem was finding decent mounting systems at our local "Big Box" electronic stores. Not to mention the high price. After a lengthy Internet search, I settled on this brand and model. We wanted to be able to move our TV to different positions (while still being fixed mounted on the wall) so we could watch it from various points in our bedroom (from the bed, from a sitting area, from the bathroom, etc). Most of the mounts I found on the Internet cost a fortune and did little more than tilt your TV up and down. This Peerless arm does so much more. It swings, swivels, and tilts to virtually any viewing angle you can imagine or need. Plus the mounting plate will fit virtually any LCD or plasma model. I suggest visiting the Peerless web site for specific information regarding compatibility with your TV brand and model.
Prices for this item were all over the board during my Internet research. I would discourage you from shopping at the lowest price sources listed at Amazon.com. I went through the long ordering process with Beach Audio.com only to find out (at the last ordering screen) that their shipping and handling costs were about twice the cost of the arm! What a deceiving rip-off. Instead, I purchased the arm through [...]. This web site has a bounty of useful information about TV and monitor mounting options. I highly recommend a look here for information, even if you don't buy from them.
I received the mount via UPS in about five days (the $9.99 shipping and handling was much more reasonable than other places). I am a "do it yourselfer" and found the installation to be easy. I think if you are even a bit mechanically inclined and have basic tools you won't have much trouble installing the unit. Find a wall stud, mark the location of the arm on the wall, drill two pilot holes into the stud, screw the arm into the wall stud with two large wood screws and screw the TV into the arm's support plate. Even if you mount the arm a bit crooked, you can still level the TV with one of the arm's adjustment screws. I highly recommend having two or more people available to help hold the TV in place while attaching it to the support arm plate.
I am very, very pleased with this articulating arm. It looks great, only sticks out about 3 inches from the wall, it has a neat system for hiding the power cord and cable wires from view, and it can be adjusted effortlessly to an infinite number of viewing angles. I was a bit leery of placing a $1000+ TV investment on a wall mount, but this unit is surprisingly strong. Even though the TV weighs a lot, the arm moves it around with very little effort.
If you are looking for a wall mounted articulating arm with lots of flexibility for TV viewing angles, this is a great, ingenious product.

I purchased this mount for my LG 47LE5400 TV (LG 47LE5400 47-Inch 1080p 120 Hz LED HDTV with Internet Applications). It's a slim TV, and I was looking for a mount with a narrow profile. The TV is mounted in the bedroom, and normally sits flat against the wall, however I wanted to be able to pull it away from the wall and adjust the angle so that it was visible from the en-suite bathroom.
Installing the mount was relatively straight forward. It is attached to the wall with 2 large lag bolts (supplied). I did find that it was necessary to perform the installation steps in an order other than outlined in the installation manual - I chose to mount the vertical brackets to the back of the TV first, so that I could accurately measure for the vertical position of the mount. The installation instructions suggested that the vertical brackets would be centered top-to-bottom on the TV, but the hole pattern didn't quite line up that way for my TV (VESA 200 mount pattern). It turned out that the center of the mounting area lined up with the center of the TV anyways.
One of the challenges with installing this mount is that it has to be attached to something solid, i.e. a wall stud. This restricts the horizontal placement of the mount. The attachment point is about 6 inches off center from the mount when collapsed tight to the wall, but it can be mounted either to the left or right of center. Depending on your TV, there may be a little room to slide the TV left-right on the bracket once it's attached to the wall. On my TV, the electronics connections prevented much lateral motion.
One of the great things about this mount is that it allow for fine tuning adjustments once it's attached to the wall. This is great since it can be really difficult to get the bracket mounted perfectly vertical on the wall. Once the TV was mounted to the bracket, I was able to loosen 4 retaining nuts in the center of the mount and rotate the TV to ensure that it was level horizontally.
The mount is definitely slim profile. When pushed back to the wall, the TV sits less than one inch from the wall. The mount allows the TV to be pulled away from the wall, rotated horizontally, and tilted vertically. Moving my TV requires 2 hands, but the motion feels smooth and solid, it's not too difficult. Once positioned, it stays in place.
One area for improvement in this mount would be cable management. There were 2 cable-management attachments provided with the mount, but they don't really allow enough attachment points to secure the cables to the mount in a way that allows the cables to stay neat and allow the full range of motion. Also, since it's a slim-profile mount, it's really important that the cables be secured neatly so that they don't get caught between the TV and the wall and prevent the TV from sitting tight to the wall.
Overall, I'm very satisfied with the mount.

HP ZR24w 24-inch S-IPS LCD Monitor Review

HP ZR24w 24-inch S-IPS LCD Monitor
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
If you don't want to read my long rambling, skip down to the pros and cons below. Also read my update below.
I previously owned a 'Samsung 226BW' for 6 years (TN panel) and had the 'HP LP2475w' briefly (H-IPS panel, instead of e-IPS like this ZR24w). My problem with the LP2475w was it's wide gamut and I wanted consistent color saturation across the entire desktop. I wanted a good looking monitor for multiple purpose, for work and entertainment. This ZR24w meets my need, it only come with a few small imperfections, but they are not bad enough so I would still recommend it.
General impressions, the good stuff:
-The monitor has a very sturdy stand. After turning the brightness down to zero (which is still bright enough), it output around 37watt which is acceptable. The monitor is very bright, but CCFL backlights are known to slowly dim as it gets more hours, so this is a good thing for the long run.
-The colors are simply stunning, combined with great contrast this monitor have very good clarity. When viewing photos and videos, the details and objects stands out, unlike most TN panels which look washed out by comparison. Watching HD videos should be a joy.
-The text is really smooth and sharp at the same time, one of the highlight of this monitor. Good for people who spend lots of time reading online. Small pixel pitch (.270mm) so you won't notice dots unless you move your eyes up close to the screen. There is a feature to adjust sharpness, but only 5 steps, which isn't enough IMO.
-The monitor is standard color gamut (not wide), so colors are not over saturated and are consistent across the whole screen. This is important as it makes the monitor more attractive to average users who don't want to mess with color profiles. Of course, if you are an artist/designer and want to work with Adobe RGB colors, you should buy a wide gamut monitor instead.
The green tint:
My previous HP LP2475w have the infamous problem that plague some IPS monitors: one side of the screen have a pinkish tint and the other side a greenish tint. Unfortunately, my ZR24w came with a slight green tint starting from the right edge of the screen disappearing toward the middle, the left side is white. I can notice the green with white and gray backgrounds. Turning down the green and calibrating the monitor can help a lot, but the green doesn't fully go away. This imperfection bothers me because I do a lot of online reading and a bit of scripts editing that usually involves white background. UPDATE: I fixed this problem using a (better) colorimeter, more info below.
Backlight uniformity:
There are some backlight leakage. I set the monitor to display a black screen and in a dark room took photos of the monitor using my camera with 1/4th and 1/8th second exposure to exaggerate backlight leakage. The photo shows leakage coming from the bottom left and a small bit from the rest of corners. Believe it or not, I noticed these leakages even while using the monitor in daytime when the screen background is a dark colored like black or dark brown, though not anymore if the screen is displaying brighter colors. Also, the backlight slightly dims along the very top and bottom edges of the screen.
Black level:
The black level isn't great and have problem showing 'true black'. Experienced users will know what I mean when a monitor's black level is not good and instead of pure black you see kind of a 'reflective black' because of the backlight bleeds through. This creates a problem when you watch movies or play FPS video games where very dark scenes are involved, this 'reflective black' can makes it harder to pick out objects and details. Despite this, the contrast is good and the colors are accurate, it's still much better watching black and white films on this monitor than my Samsung 226BW. However, I don't think this is the best monitor to edit black and white photos (also due to a bit of 'color banding', though rarely will you notice it unless you are doing specific tests to identify the banding).
Viewing angles:
If your eyes are leveled with this monitor, the image quality will remain if you shift left and right horizontally. However, if you stand up and look down from the top-right or top-left, it loses gamma and saturation. So imagine a situation when someone is standing by your side looking down at the monitor, they would either have to bring their eyes down to the height of the monitor or step back one or two steps to see more clearly. Same problem looking up diagonally from below. This e-IPS panel has better viewing angle than TN panels, but possibly not as good as the more expensive H-IPS panels.
Display speed:
-Input lag: I have the Samsung 226BW which is known have very low input lag. I connect it and the ZR24w to the video card for clone view, ran a stop-watch timer software and set my camera to 1/125th second exposure time, then took photos of the two monitors. In the photos, the times displayed on the ZR24w screen are slower than the times in the 226BW for only 10 to 30 milliseconds, only rarely does it reach 40milliseconds. This is actually acceptable, my previous HP LP2475w's input lag averages higher, so HP improved with the ZR24w.
Note: Some says the "Overdrive" feature used by some manufacturers to reduce ghosting could potentially increase input lag. I tested with Overdrive on and off, in my test there doesn't seem to be a difference for the input lag time.
-Response Time: The vertical pixel response time is very good, but not as good horizontally. When watching Formula 1, onboard videos look good because it deals more with vertical motions. However, it can get blurry sometimes when cars speed very quickly horizontally across the screen. Turning on the "Overdrive" feature helps, ghosting almost completely disappeared.
-For FPS gaming, ghosting will be more noticeable especially if you have a fast video card displaying high frame rates. With Overdrive off, the ghosting made me felt like I had a few drinks. When it's turned on, ghosting is reduced and games are much more playable. To me, the difference is big so Overdrive is a must for FPS. Due to this screen having great contrast and clarity, the details stood out and I was able to pick out enemies from the distance easier, this allowed me to get better scores despite not the best response time.
Overall:
This may sounds somewhat like negative review, but I'm a very sensitive user, some of the problems might not persist or as bad for other buyers. If you're interested in upgrading from TN to IPS panel monitor and don't want to deal with wide color gamut and colors profiling, then this HP ZR24w is a good upgrade. For media related tasks like gaming, photos and videos this monitor will display colors and details beautifully. It's easy on the eyes for reading texts. I bet for most people beside very hardcore gamers the display speed will be just fine.UPDATE: I upgraded to a better colorimeter (Huey Pro). It came with a software that can apply calibrated colors across the entire desktop. Surprisingly, it eliminated the green tint to the right of the screen. Also, I think the 'standard factory calibrated colors' are not bad and isn't far from the results produced with my colorimeter, so even if you don't intend to spend extra for a colorimeter I think the default colors will still look very nice.Pro
-Clear and detailed, accurate colors
-Great contrast
-Smooth and sharp texts, easy to read
-Is standard color gamut (not wide) so entire desktop is not over-saturated
-10cm vertical adjustable stand that's stable, 90 degrees rotation, screen is removable from stand for mounting
-Acceptable input lag and response time ('Overdrive' feature helps reduce ghosting)
Con
-Viewing angle is good horizontally, but not very good diagonally
-Black level isn't great and some backlight leakage
-Slight green tint on right side of screen (for the monitor I received), can be reduced by calibrating using a colorimeter
-Small amount of 'color banding', though not easily noticeable unless you do tests to look for it
PS. Mine came with no dead or hot pixels.

LG 26LD350 26-Inch 720p 60 Hz LCD HDTV Review

LG 26LD350 26-Inch 720p 60 Hz LCD HDTV
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I reviewed LCD 26 and 32in TVs for weeks looking at specs and design and I finally decided on the LG350 for our master bedroom. So far I'm very pleased with my selection. It came down to the Samsung 26" C450 and this one. For the money and options the LG was a better pick for sure. I must say the sound is by far best on this TV than any other LCD I looked at. The TV turns on quickly (2-3sec) some delay much longer. The blacks are black and the colors look great, even on standard def channels. Some LCDs look horrible on SD channels but not this one. Very pleased with the menu setup and the remote control. The only thing I'll say I don't care for is the picture wizard setup. It's almost easier to just use the standard pre set picture settings and make only minor adjustments to fit your room. The stand swivels smoothly which the Sony and Samsung don't. I also like that it's not a glossy screen with lots of reflections. I see very little blur when viewing fast moving options. You see it, but not like some other 60Hz TVs. So if you are looking for a great LCD for under $380.00. I highly recommend this model. Oh, and don't let anyone tell you any different. If you are looking at 32" and below. 720p is just as good as any 1080p model in this size range.
only way this TV could be anymore perfect is for it to have a built in Blue-ray or DVD player.

This product is very strong and very adjustable. It is perfect for my 55", 25 lb. LCD-LED TV. The mount can hold a great deal more weight than my TV. It has enough extension and swivel capability, that I can swivel my TV a full 180 degrees in either direction, which is extremely useful to me. When I'm not using it as a TV, I'm using it as a second monitor for my PC, so swiveling it towards my PC is essential. Plus, the extra extension is great. I keep my entertainment center credenza about 16" away from the wall, so there's ample space for all of the wires, power strips, UPSs, etc. that spill out the back. To accommodate, I pull the TV out from the wall to center it over the credenza, both front and back, and side to side. Truly an excellent TV mount. I am thoroughly impressed.

Samsung PN50A760 50-Inch 1080p Plasma HDTV with Red Touch of Color Review

Samsung PN50A760 50-Inch 1080p Plasma HDTV with Red Touch of Color
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I was originally going to buy a Kuro 50 inch plasma after looking at all the online reviews from many different sites. The Samsung 650 was also ranked very high, but there were some small negatives about the tv (some glare issues primarily) that had me holding off for the Kuro. Amazon originally had the Kuro for about 2k, but I didn't pull the trigger quick enough, and then it went away, and I couldn't find it anywhere for under $2,500.
I wasn't sure if I was going to go ahead and buy the 650 when I looked on Amazon one day and saw the new 50 inch 760 on sale for $1,599.00. After reading some professional reviews on this product (there wasn't a whole lot due to how new it was), I decided that this was an upgrade from the slightly older model, and decided to pull the trigger. Best decision I could have made! Not sure if experts still rank the Kuro higher than this television, but if they do, the Kuro must be out of this world, because this Samsung is UNBELIEVABLE. This is my first plasma tv purchase, and I was used to watching television on a 36" Panasonic traditional tv, but after seeing the picture on the Samung, I was blown away. Watching sports on tv makes you feel as if you are at the event. The color is amazing, the tv looks nice, and the swivel on the stand allows me to turn the tv to face me when my wife isn't around. It even makes bad movies good (think Spiderman 3), awful movie, but awesome special effects in high def! I think the sound was decent as well, but it didn't have enough booming bass for me, so with the money I saved over the Kuro, I purchased a Denon soundbar to go along with the plasma to add better surround sound and booming bass. Now wherever I am seated in the room, I can turn my components to face me and enjoy a pretty good surround sound system. If you don't want to add a surround sound system, this tv handled sound well, but as I say I was really looking for more booming bass when I watched movies. It would have been great if there was a way to add a subwoofer directly to this television, something the Kuro has, but not the Samsung.
There is a teeny glare on the OUTSIDE edge of the television on the part that is not actually the screen(not sure why Samsung made it almost a mirror like edge), but nothing that is too distracting, and I got used to it pretty quickly. I have this in my living room which gets very little light when the shades are closed, but even with lights on, or during the day, the glare issue on this tv is not noticeable. I was a little leary given past Samsung reviews, but I can tell you that if possible glare is holding you back from buying this tv, don't think twice about it...not an issue. Also, you can watch this tv from anywhere in the room and see it clearly. The controls on the remote are extremely functionable, and everything is VERY easy to setup and tweak.
The other part of this purchase that is EXTREMELY important, and should be emphasized, is the process of buying DIRECTLY through Amazon.com. As long it is directly through Amazon.com (and not through an affiliate), shipping is included in the price, and the company handling the deliveries is TOP NOTCH. When I initially looked around for purchase possibilities, the thing that bothered me was that most companies had a policy where they would deliver the plasma to your front door only. You had to open the box, make sure that it worked, and then sign for it. If there was any type of problem, some would tell you to refuse delivery, and others would tell you that you had to get it fixed through the warranty process! The last thing I wanted to do was to get a defective set, and then have to get someone here to fix it! When I went with Amazon.com, the company delivering for them brought the plasma into my house, took it out of the box, put it on the open table, hooked it up, put batteries in the remote, setup the initial configuration, and made sure that it was working fine BEFORE I signed for it. This piece of mind often called "white glove service" elsewhere costing anywhere from $100 - $150 additional dollars was ABSOLUTELY free with Amazon.com. I can't stress enough how important this was. I had read about this service beforehand, and it was a primary reason (along with cost) as to why I was pretty much holding off until I found the right television on Amazon. This service alone made my purchase through Amazon.com worth the price over other services, but the price was also also at the lower range of ANYWHERE else. A friend of mine owns an electronics store, and told me point blank that he doesn't understand how Amazon.com can price merchandise the way they do it, but he had heard good things about them, and although it would hurt him by recommending Amazon.com, he told me to buy from them if the price was right.
I highly recommend this television as well as purchasing from Amazon.com. The final way you know how happy I am with this purchase is to keep the following in mind....I RARELY spend the time to enter reviews after purchases, but I was so happy with this purchase, that I couldn't wait to share my experience with everyone on Amazon.com

My husband is an installer. So I had ordered tons of mount for his projects. I could not resist the low price offered by Mountplus and bought this one from him. The mount was shipped by Amazon.com and was received quickly. When I opened the box, I could not believe my eyes. I had never seen any mount with such poor quality. It is, so " tiny". The ceiling bracket is only a 3.5 in x 3.5 in piece, 2mm thick. The bar is only 0.8 inch in diameter. All the weight is loaded to a single bolt, which attaches the ceiling pole to that plate. And this mount claims to load up to 165 lb. We have other ceiling mounts which are twice as strong, only claim to 135 lb. The overall paint was terrible too.
I felt that I might have received knockoff product. So I contacted the manufacture. To my surprise, they confirmed that this mount is their authentic product. We got a lesson and will stay away from this brand forever. This one is on its way back.
No need to say more. I uploaded some pictures, please take a look yourself.

This is the second of these that I have purchased. So impressed was I with this item...and disappointed with other available options, several of which I tried and returned to the seller...that I bought another when I recently purchased another flat-screen TV.
It simply is a far superior product, securing the TV confidently to the wall and mount, and providing a full range of motion.

Sharp AQUOS LC40D78UN 40-Inch 1080p LCD TV Review

Sharp AQUOS LC40D78UN 40-Inch 1080p LCD TV
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I own this 40" 78 series Sharp Aquos TV. First said, The picture quality is outstanding, and can be tweaked to an infinite level with all the in depth menu settings. The speakers are on the bottom and fire downward. I find the sound to be very good on all inputs EXCEPT for TV where you are pulling your signal thru a coax cable. For whatever reason sound level is way down on that input. But on HDMI, component, etc sound level is strong and actually sounds pretty good. But to note, this weak sound on the TV input seems to be the norm, as I have noticed that effect on my other non Sharp flat screen TVs as well. I have my Sharp TV sitting in an entertainment center, so that serves as an amplifing box and pushes the sounds out in a good strong level. One GREAT thing about this (and most Sharp TVs) is that they have the RCA audio output jacks that can be connected to the older style receivers that do not have the optical input.
I just plug my red/white audio cable jacks from the TV to the matching input jacks on my receiver and like magic, there is great sound being delivered through my stereo system. You don't even have to turn the TV's speakers off, as the output jacks carry the signal along with the TV's internal speakers. You can turn the TV speaker volume down to zero without effecting the stereo's sound level, or you can turn the TV's speaker volume up slightly and get a really cool surround type effect.
All in all I love this TV and it's quality features. Sharp is one of the leading LCD screen manufacturers in the world, and they usually lead the industry in quality and innovation (Such as the Sharp Quattron screen with the extra "yellow" pixel.)
Sharp has always made great electronics. I currenty have a 30 year old Sharp 13" TV (with remote control) set up in our kitchen and it still performs as well today as it did 30 years ago when it was new.

Sharp AQUOS LC32BD60U 32-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV with Built-In Blu-ray Player Review

Sharp AQUOS LC32BD60U 32-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV with Built-In Blu-ray Player
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Received this 1080p LCD TV two days ago...this is an initial hands-on review. This is the first line of LCD TVs to contain a built-in Blu-ray DVD player. I needed this because of space limitations and for convenience. This TV extracts the highest resolution from Blu-ray DVDs for an exceptional picture. Conventional DVDs also produce an excellent picture and are upconverted from 480p. So far, I'm pleased. This TV will accept virtually all current video signals up to 1080p + PC input, making it as future proof as any current LCD TV. But there are some caveats.
1. TV Setup: TV is well packaged and protected. The Owners Manual is detailed and understandable. You must attach the base stand to the TV unless you intend to wall hang it. The black lacquer stand attaches easily using phillips screws and a screwdriver provided. All plastic protective coverings stayed on the TV and stand until final placement because black lacquer surfaces and LCD screens attract fingerprints and scratches. The base doesn't swivel or tilt. It is hefty and supports the TV very well.
2. Inputs abound: Seven inputs can handle most sources. They include three HDMI HDCP inputs, an Analog PC input, and various component/S-video/composite combos. Additionally, a USB input (called a Service Terminal) is provided for future firmware updates. I have an HD TiVo with HD Digital Cable service connected via HDMI. The TV and TiVo synched perfectly and the TV automatically labeled this input as TiVo...cool feature. Picture controls are adjustable for each input and maintain their settings.
3. Blu-ray Player (Profile 1.1, upgradeable): The DVD player forms a slight bulge on the rear right of the TV and is not obvious. It has a USB port for memory expansion and an ethernet port for future BD-Live capability. When a DVD is inserted into the loading slot, the TV switches to DVD input, reads the type disc and begins playing. Very easy to use! I tested two Blu-ray DVDs and two conventional DVDs without a hitch. Blu-ray DVDs took just under two minutes to load their data and play. Conventional DVDs took less than a minute. Commercial or homemade music CDs also work, however homemade MP-3 music disks will not play. The DVD player initially makes slight noises as the disk is loading. Once play starts it is silent. If there is a fan, it is very quiet. DVD functionality seems very well integrated into the electronics, remote control, and overall operation of this TV.
4. Limitations of the Blu-ray player: First, audio output to A/V receivers is bitstream via optical output in Dolby Digital 5.1 or 2-channel PCM. Analog 2-channel rca outputs are also provided. None of the next generation audio formats found on Blu-ray DVDs, i.e., Dolby TrueHD, Dolby Digital Plus, DTS-HD Master Audio, can be output. Second, if the player fails I must return the entire TV for service. Third, this is a profile 1.1 player. The owners manual indicates it will be upgradeable to profile 2.0 at a future date. If you can live with these limitations (which I can), then convenience, space savings, and ease of use make this a valuable addition.
5. Performance: Overall excellent picture with Standard and High Definition sources, after some adjustment. Sound is about average for this size TV. Bass and Treble, along with a Surround mode are adjustable. Blu-ray DVDs display exceptional video quality. HD Cable programs are pristine. Normal DVDs look very good. Sound is boosted slightly when playing DVDs and I perceived a very slight improvement in overall dynamics. Out of the box, after some adjustments, this TV exhibits a very slight red push...not a deal breaker. This means reds were somewhat over emphasized in all picture modes. Luckily, the Color Management System allows very detailed adjustment of each of six colors in Hue, Saturation, and Value (brightness). This is in addition to the normal contrast, tint, brightness, and color controls. Additionally, backlight is adjustable (from off to full on) as are video noise reduction controls. I'm sure with the help of my Avia test DVD and some experimenting, I'll be able to tweak the picture to my liking.
6. Summary: I'm very satisfied at this point. Factoring the price of a separate Blu-ray player into the price of a quality 1080p 32inch LCD TV makes this combo a reasonable alternative to separate components in my view. Limitations aside, the convenience of having a well integrated DVD player attached to a TV makes sense for many folks.

Bush Furniture Segments TV Stand Review

Bush Furniture Segments TV Stand
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Bought this recently, setup was super easy, looks very good, nice finish. That is the Pro's. The Con's are: 1) No specifications on how much weight the shelves will support, no specifications on the height between shelves, and no help from customer service on any of this, 2) The TV support arm leans with the weight of my plasma, not only forward but also to one side, stable who knows, although once situated I plan on anchoring it to the walls, 3) repeated emails to customer service go unanswered, I mean absolutely no response, not to my questions or to my requests for parts. This is a very good looking unit, fits my decor just right, but the lack of Bush's customer service support has soured me on buying anything more from them.

Avista Numina Flat Panel 55-inch TV Console with Glass Shelves, Black Review

Avista Numina Flat Panel 55-inch TV Console with Glass Shelves, Black

This item arrived in a box that was obliterated at some point during the shipping process, either from the manufacturer to the retailer or from the retailer to me. It is extremely heavy and clunky metal. I opened the 80 lb box, saw the state of the product in disarray with some plastic pieces popped out and the styrofoam shattered and scattered about the product. I immediately taped it back up and sent it back so, in all fairness, I can't say how it would have performed as a tv stand, but it's a serious issue if a product is such a turn off in the box that a customer doesn't even want to give it a try.

Sony BRAVIA KDL40BX420 40-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV, Black Review

Sony BRAVIA KDL40BX420 40-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV, Black
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I was using 10 year old TV tube, so for me this is the first big LCD TV ever, thus comparison is not going to be fair!
I wanted something with good image quality, reliable and within budget for apartment. Looking at various TVs, I knew that I wanted Sony for image quality and potentially can go for Samsung. My primary viewing is cable, DVDs etc. no sports, thus no need for 120 or 240 Hz and did not wanted to pay for it. So based on my criteria this was the best option - based on brand, image quality, price point, size etc.
On receiving, it took 10 mins to set it up and get running. Few tunings got what I wanted. But biggest problem has been sound quality. It has 4 options - Mono, Custom, Adaptive etc.. each sounds different as expected but none seemed satisfactory. Some were too high etc. I am sure it can be reduced by changing few parameters but I am not sure it will give clear sound as I expected. I plan to put speaker system, so hopefully it will become non-issue. So if you plan to use TV directly then go and check in some store personally for sounds quality.
I did check few places online and ordered from Amazon, but when I visited my local Walmart they are carrying it for ~580, so with tax it would cost the same. Some how, their online store shows same cost as Amazon. I am not sure what was going on but do check local store before ordering.
Enjoy!

Haier HLC26R1 26-Inch LCD HDTV/DVD Combination Review

Haier HLC26R1 26-Inch LCD HDTV/DVD Combination
Average Reviews:

Overall, I have to say that it has quality and I really like the picture. I was disappointed in the fact that it does not tilt 30 degrees as it states. Eventhough it does not tilt, the picture quality is very good. I have it on a five shelf dresser and the picture quality is very good when laying on the bed. The setup was really easy and the picture of the DVD and sound is really good. I feel that the overall package was a very good value based on what I have experienced so far. If anything changes in my opinion, I will certainly let you know.

BDI Revo 9981, Double Wide Rotating Cabinet ( Natural Stained Cherry) Review

BDI Revo 9981, Double Wide Rotating Cabinet ( Natural Stained Cherry)
Average Reviews:

This is a high quality piece of furniture. It's very attractive. There is nothing cheap about this unit. Solid construction, attention to detail and a high quality finish. The cherry finish is very warm. I did not see the oak finish.
It revolves smoothly, solidly and quietly. It's a very functional design with one open shelf and two shelves behind curved glass doors. The curves doors are a nice touch; they fit together perfectly and open easily. Good ventilation and wire control.
I've been looking for a while and this is the nicest unit I've seen. It' a little higher priced than other units, but I feel like I got 100% of my money's worth. My wife loves it, too!
